Ikan Bakar - Jalan Bellamy
We've been talking about this one for awhile and decided to finally take a drive to Jalan Bellamy.

Location : At the end of Jalan Bellamy, behind the Istana, there's about four shops side by side selling ikan bakar. We went to the last one.
Can make it within an hour ? (travel + service) : The drive only takes about 10 minutes, but waiting for the fish and other seafood to cook can take awhile. There's generally a lot of people here and they just grab whatever comes off the grill plate.

Decor/Ambience : Hot, smokey and stuffy. Due to all the grilling, your clothes are going to smell ! On a hot day, the few fans scattered at the place is just not enough. It's crowded too unless you go early (before 12noon).
Food : They basically grill fish (pari, terubuk, kembong) or cuttle fish on the hot plate. All marinated in some chilli type sauce. You get the rice from another queue, then queue again for the fish. There's also two types of dipping sauce, a sambal and a soya sauce based one.
The Terubok was ok, but the pari (stingray) was a major disappointment. It was not fresh and had a funny smell. We took two pieces and the second one was equally bad. Infact, we mentioned it to the waitress, and she just took it off our table and chucked it without much of a fuss. Obviously it's happened before ! Makes you wonder.

Price : Depending on how much seafood you take off the grill, but on average not more than RM20 per head.
Return Trip ? : NO !! We've sworn never to come back here and will find some other place for ikan bakar. This place is popular purely out of reputation. If they keep serving these type of smelly fish, that reputation's going to change pretty soon. Although you wouldn't have guessed judging by the crowd that still goes there.
